Welcome to “Stars, like salt.” This space gathers my thoughts about nature and the stories I discover as I travel the world learning about environmental issues. The phrase “stars, like salt” makes reference to a simile employed by Canadian author Anne Michaels. To me, that similie recalls the moment, on the darkest side of dusk,  when the stars turn on in the sky. First they appear slowly, one by one, then faster and faster until the sky has been filled. It’s as if someone with a great salt shaker were sprinkling stars up into the darkness, carefully and then with confidence. On “Stars, like salt”, I celebrate these moments of wonder and connection to nature, while dissecting the human impacts to the natural world that risk us losing those moments forever.

My background: I have a Masters in Environmental Policy from Sciences Po Paris and Bachelors Degrees in Geography and Philosophy from UCLA. My experience is in corporate sustainability and in environmental consulting. As a French-Kiwi, I have lived in France and New Zealand, but also Canada and the US, and I have travelled throughout the world. I seek nature wherever I go, to revel in it and to contemplate how to protect it.
